Hello Pandora
I have recently been introduced to the latest craze sweeping the country Pandora. And for a change its not the young twenty something girls leading the way with their quirky fashions its their mothers! (although I think a big contributing factor to this is that in order to fill a bracelet a small mortgage is required!!)
Yes, it was my mum that introduced me to this range of delightfully elegant bracelets, the premise being that you create your own unique bracelets by buying the beads and charms individually and build up a bracelet over time. This is a great idea as the possibilities are endless and the whole ethos appeals to womens love of collecting beautiful things, the notion of which soon becomes highly addictive.
The way Pandora bracelets work is simple:
1. Beads - Multi coloured beads made from either glass or wood.
2. Charms - Gold or silver pieces which have small charms dangling off them.
3. Spacers - These are the silver or gold pieces which are slightly smaller then beads, and can move freely around the bracelet chain.
4. Clips - These look exactly like the spacers, but they clip onto the chain and will not slide around, allowing you to clip sections in place.
As I hinted at earlier falling in love with this craze can be a dangerous sport as the various Pandora elements do not come cheap, the simplest wooded beads start at about £25 and the more elegant gold beads can individually come to as much as £300. Therefore if you are thinking about embarking on the Pandora journey I urge you to think carefully and plan your bead buying moves with precision and care, they may seam like whimsical items of grace and elegance but the price tag definitely has a sting in its tail.
